A vicar with a taste for sweets. A nun with a knack for trouble. A deliciously diabolical crime…

Reverend Annabelle Dixon is not your typical vicar. Her passion and dedication to her calling are matched only by her weakness for cakes and sweets. Her unorthodox methods baffle her mentor, Father John. But even he can’t deny her popularity with the parishioners of St. Clement’s Church.

When Annabelle makes plans to sample some tasty treats with her old friend Sister Mary, a Catholic nun visiting from West Africa, she has no idea that she will soon find herself embroiled in a deadly mystery. She is shocked to find Sister Mary at a local café, surrounded by a panicked crowd, with a dead woman at her feet…

Armed only with a note, a disappearing dart, whispered rumors, and a love of cake, this quick-thinking, quick-footed holy woman must piece together the clues, pacify a dogged detective, and find the real perpetrator… before she and her friend both wind up in jail.

Part Sherlock Holmes, part Miss Marple, Annabelle is a new kind of detective, with an appetite for cakes and crime. If you love solving puzzles, then this suspense-filled, endearing, cozy mystery is just for you. This delightful jaunt around London will keep you guessing until the very end!

I enjoyed getting to know the characters for this story line. Descriptions of areas in book and persons involved was done well. I like the Reverend Annabelle Dixon and look forward to more mysteries with her!
This is a lovely story about an unlikely duo that have known each other since childhood. The introductions for each character works perfectly with the rest of the story.I plan on reading all the books in the series.
I ended up reading the 2nd book in the series first but enjoyed it so well I went and got the first one. I love the characters and the story is wonderfully written. I now want to go back and reread the second one again.
This is the prequel to the Reverend Annabelle series and is set in London before she moves to the small Cornish village of Upton St Mary. We therefore don't have the usual cast of quaint and quirky characters here but a lifelong friend instead - a nun named Sister Mary. Although I enjoyed this book, I prefer the follow-up books with their off-the-wall characters. I also missed Biscuit the cat ...
Reverend Annabelle Dixon is not your typical Vicar. She is new on the scene and has found herself embroiled in a murder investigation. She and her best friend were at the scene of a murder and are immediate suspects. What follows is a wonderful introduction to a new series about the Rev. who likes to help solve mysteries. She is an observer of human nature and also is able to deduce information from conversations with others. This is going to be an entertaining series!
Reverend Annabelle and Sister Mary are a new fun and spirited team that ends up solving quite a robbery scheme.

The two ladies were friends from early childhood. One was Anglican and the other Roman Catholic. Sister Mary is back in London to fund raise for her African hospital. Reverend Annabelle who has her parish in London is thrilled to catch up with her friend.

As the two meet, a woman drops dead in front of the good ladies. Reverend Annabelle takes charge and the reader is off to the races to solve not just one, but, two murders and a robbery scheme.

This is a highly enjoyable series debut. I look forward to reading further volumes.
A quick read, witty and entertaining. The relationship between the female priest and Catholic nun is endearing and both women respect each other . Annabelle is always helping people but especially her friend, who is being framed for murder. The plot is political, religiion related and goodl The whole series is well done and highly recommended.
I love having a supply of cozy mysteries I can read before going to sleep at night but finding them is not always easy. A good cozy needs to be just as well plotted as any dark thriller, and the characters have to be likable without being overly sweet. Luck and coincidence needs to play a very limited role in the book. A touch of humor is a nice plus. Alison Golden's Reverend Dixon series and her Inspector David Graham series do all of these things well. They are cozy but never silly.
