But when Benn signs the marriage contract, he loses much more than he expects. Once the contracts are signed, Leo thinks nothing more about his husband on paper until illness forces him to return to the family home to convalesce. He's surprised to find Benn there, even more so to see he is a shadow of the gorgeous man he met at their wedding.
He makes it his mission to connect with the skittish, fragile Benn. And the more he unravels the events of Benn's past and present, the closer they become. Until husband on paper starts to look like something more...

Soon it becomes apparent that Benn practically lived as a prisoner on the estate, a fact neither Leo nor his father knew about.
I was surprised by how much I liked this book. At first the blurb seemed a bit farfetched in this day and age, but from the first page this book drew me in. The writing was flowing and captivating. The author takes you through every emotion. Some parts were heartbreaking and had me crying. And then there were little patches of dry humour that brought some sunshine in the story.
Although married, Benn and Leo seem to be a mismatched pair, but the first tiny spark becomes a slow burning fire. Beautifully written with a steady pace, nothing rushed and a sweet happy ending.
This book leaves you with a warm fuzzy feeling in your heart that true love wins.

Please let me know when book two will come out keep up the good work evelyn.hearn@yahoo.com. can't wait to hear from you soon I am so ready for book two to come out
They were forced together for convince. But through it all the problems that they had they found love. It was nice to see that they somewhat know that they realized that there was something there between them when they were first forced together.
I chose this rating as the book was well written. I couldn't put it down. Discusses trying to drive the "gay" out of a person thru starving and other methods. But ends happily .
Is interesting, i like the personages their background was unclear at stages in a good way (it kept me reading -) ). However, it was not quite satisfying at the end...like something was missing, I'm not sure what thou...The sister was too clueless and Leo and his father had too much self importance..I was not convince with the change off attitude they had too...humm ...At the end I like it enough to comment and I hope to read more works from this author her ideas are good and for sure she'll grow better with each book.
Such a tangled web! Several villains. A contract not read. A distant spouse. Abuse. Health concerns. An isolated estate. This reminded me of all those romances I loved as a young adult...but with some real action in the bedroom!
There was an awful lot of illness, at various stages, and with various people in this short story.
Good premise. Dialogue flows well. I would have liked the writing as a full novel. Because of the story's length, the writing felt a bit jam-packed - it rushed very quickly over Ben's 'imprisonment'. And the butler problem sort of faded away.
Still, all-in-all, an interesting read.
If this book was set in the 1800s then it would have made more sense. Set in modern times it is difficult to believe. Putting that aside the writing, dialogue and storyline was good. The major issues for me were the author rushed through the ending not making Benns father pay any price for his suffering and left many threads unfinished.
